About the National Chairman

Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan has made a remarkable impact on the cultural ethos of community security in Nigeria through his membership of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) from Ogun State and led by example in all he has done as he painstakingly climbs the PCRC leadership ladder from the Gateway State to the Southwest Geopolitical Zone and the National, as the first Southerner to do so.

The number 1 PCRC member in Nigeria has been awarded and recognised within and outside Africa’s most populous nation in recognition of his decade-long outstanding leadership qualities, participation in and sustained commitment to community security through selfless contributions and partnership with security agents, most especially the Nigeria Police Force to aid crime prevention, detection and timely reaction.

He has epitomized that type of patriotic Nigerian who is not necessarily the Chief Security Officer, a Security Personnel or the Front Man, but who, through utter determination and unabashed love for Community Security and Safety, whether they be providing aids to Police personnel or educating Community Members on importance of Police-Community partnership, has strengthened the concept of Community Policing.

Mogaji has successfully raised the profile of Security Consciousness in Nigeria and has worked hard to see every home across the country have at least 1 good family member in the PCRC. Olubadan has inspired and pioneered many support initiatives for families of fallen Police officers and men through highly distinguished PCRC National Patrons, Partners, National Women and Youths Committee, respectively.

He has proved himself as an effective administrator, inspiring motivator and intelligent leader. He gets a job done unobtrusively and efficiently, he communicates well and has creative ideas, which he is able to see through to completion. He certainly has set a fine example of reliability, dependability and commitment.

Welcome Address

WELCOME ADDRESS BY IMAM MOGAJI IBRAHEEM ARAMIDE OLANIYAN, NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE, AT THE 2ND EDITION OF POLICE-CORPORATE ORGANISATIONS DIALOGUE, ORGANISED BY THE PCRC STAKEHOLDERS CORPORATE ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2022, AT THE GOODLUCK JONATHAN INTERNATIONAL PEACE KEEPING CONFERENCE HALL, POLICE FORCE HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA

Protocol,

1. It is with utmost pleasure I welcome this awesome audience and assemblage of high profile dignitaries. Today marks my 10th day in office , as the national chairman of Police Community Relations Committee , having been elected on November 29. Let me once gain appreciate the PCRC family for this confidence reposed in me and my executives drawn from different parts of the country . I will not fail to thank , most especially, our Mr Projects , Inspector General of Police , IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+),NPM,fdc,NEAPS, CFR, for his quality service deliveries and pro-community approach to policing ,which has made the work of the PCRC easier .
2. The Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC was established on May 8, 1984 by one time Inspector General of Police , Sir Etim Okon Inyang , GCON,NPM,KJW(1983-1986) ,to promote police community collaboration ,in order to address community safety and security concerns
3. One of the major roles of the PCRC, besides providing actionable information on crime and criminals as well as moblising logistics support for the police, is to engage members of the public in dialogues , through conferences , seminars, workshops, town hall meetings , so as to better acquaint the public with police operations, challenges ,and areas members of the public can fill the gap in police resource needs.
4. The PCRC is the baseline of community policing in Nigeria. Members , across all formations , from Divisions , Area Commands , State and Zonal Commands , have incredible commitment to improving police service delivery , as evidenced by several signature projects embarked upon by active PCRC formations . These include , the building of police transit camps , police stations stations , purchase and repairs of police operational vehicles, etc.
5. Three weeks ago one of PCRC patrons in the South West , Aare Adetola Emmanuel King , the Chairman of Adron Homes , single handedly built an ultra modern police station in Ogun State , which was commissioned by the Inspector General of Police .
6. . Shortly after the police high command created five new zonal commands in June 2020, another PCRC patron , also in the South West , HRM Oba David Okunato Olajide, the Iresi of Osi , Akure North , responded swiftly by donating 2.6 hectares of land for the zone . He also went ahead to built 12 quality administrative blocks of offices for the take of of zone 17, covering Ekiti and Ondo states . In the same vein , Prince Engr. Arthur Eze , one of Nigeria’s foremost international business moguls , donated the facility for the take off of the newly created police zonal headquarters at zone 13, Dunoukofia , Awka, covering Anambra and Enugu states . By the grace of God , we hope to engage PCRC national patrons and all our patrons nationwide , with those of you to be inducted into the Corporate PCRC Hall of Fame today , on how to deepen this collaboration with the police , in order to more effectively address community and national security challenges .
7.. To the business of today , I want to commend the civil stakeholders Corporate , our PCRC members at Force Headquarters, for putting together the second edition of this dialogue with Corporate Organisations, which was debuted last year. This year’s theme : The Nigeria Police Act 2020: Strengthening Police – Corporate Organisations Relations , derives from two of five elements of community policing , namely empowerment and problem solving approach . The end result of this conversation will guarantee another of the elements : quality service delivery .
8. Corporate Organisations are critical stakeholders of the Nigeria Police Force . Section 26 of the Nigeria Police Act 2020 makes this very clear , as such , it is critical that they are not only engaged by the corporate PCRC but during our tenure , the engagement shall be constant , consistent and intensive , until we achieve a tripartite bonding of community , police and corporate organisations ,to seamlessly address safety challenges ..
9. People think that the police only receive. This is a wrong perception. The police give a lot. The purpose for establishing the PCRC is to be proactive in addressing community safety and security needs . The purpose of this conversation is to ensure that corporate organisations get closer to the police to ask the right questions , and contribute ideas that will help the police provide better services to ensure a safe climate for business operations in Nigeria . We owe the police our unalloyed support for their sacrifices. During the Endsars protests in October 2020, about 22 policemen were reportedly killed . Many policemen have died fighting insurgency in the North East and bandits in the North West. The same story could be repeated for the Niger Delta region and the South East. The police give their lives that we might live. I have no doubt that this conversation will produce blueprints for a more enduring police – community – corporate organisations partnerships.
Once again , I commend the Inspector General of Police for his unmatched support for the PCRC. I wish us a robust conversation .

Imam Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan
National Chairman, PCRC.
